Our popular summer camp is back! This year, we will have a mix of activities surrounding circuits & electronics, code & storytelling, and 3D design & arts + crafts.

2024 Themes

Pixel Pioneers Camp will be all about coding and design - alongside coding our 2D video game, we’ll also be bringing elements of it into the 3D world! After coding, drawing, and animating on Scratch, we’ll give your game a 90s retro spin by 3D printing and designing your own cartridge.

Can circuit-making be an artform? We think so! In Soft Circuits Camp, we'll be making art with electronics, circuits, and light. Campers will be exploring creative, non-traditional ways of creating light and shaping electricity, as well as learning the science behind it all. From flexible fabrics to conductive inks, the possibilities are endless!

All our camps combine creativity and coding and deliver it with a healthy dose of crafting and outdoor time so they aren't spending the day on screens.

We build confidence in digital skills, help our campers understand what is possible with all the amazing technology around us, and inspire them to become compassionate creators of the future.

Key Details

  • Daily camp hours: 9AM - 4PM
  • Late Pick-Up: $10 for the first hour (4-5pm), $5 for every 15 minutes after that until 6pm
  • At least 1 hour of outdoor time at East Lynn park, either before or after lunch
  • Indoor time: coding, electronics, design, arts & crafts, 3D printing & more
  • Computers will be provided, but you can bring your own if you want!

Pricing

The full cost for the camp is $547 (HST exempt), but we have two early bird offers:

  • $447 ($100 off) before March 1st, 2024
  • $497 ($50 off) before May 1st, 2024

What is a typical camp day like?

We like to make sure the students are moving their bodies and not just sitting all day, so we break up the day with lots of little activities. Here is an example schedule for one of our themes:

  • 9-9:15 - Welcome
  • 9:15-9:30 - Warm-up activity (indoor)
  • 9:30-11:30 - Coding / Design / and discussion
  • 11:30-1:00 - Lunch & Outdoor time (outdoor)
  • 1:00-2:30 - Crafting / Making and games
  • 2:30-3:00 - Afternoon activity (indoor or outdoor)
  • 3:00-4:00 - Free creativity time / puzzles / music / etc.

Each year, we only open up a limited 12 spots per week for 8 weeks, so book early to reserve your spot! 

Refund Policies

Here are our general Summer Camp refund rules around cancellation:

  • greater than 4 weeks notice: 100% refund
  • greater than 1 week notice: 50% refund / 50% credit
  • less than 1 week notice: 100% credit

 My child does not have much computer/coding/design experience. How will they do in day camp?

We always design our day camp curriculum with beginners in mind, as we don't have specific skill requirements to join them! Many campers who join us for the summer, march break, or a PA day, end up enrolling in our after school/saturday Coding Club program if they want to further enhance their learning.

In a typical week-long camp session, campers will work towards one cumulative tech-based project with the steps broken down day by day, with lots of collaboration and guidance from our expert instructors.

 My child is just below the age bracket to join a day camp. Will they be ok to join that level, or will they have to wait?

This one we usually leave up to the parents. If you feel your child would be comfortable jumping in about half-way through the grade above them, (ie, they are turning 6 in August, but would do just fine in grade 1 in January) they would probably do just fine with us.

In general, reading ability, hands-on skills, and how comfortable they are with technology are good indicators of success in our programs. But, a high level of enthusiasm can often make up for a lower ability elsewhere!
